Poppy’s Play Patch was founded to share Poppy’s story, and bring her memory to life.
David’s daughter, Poppy, was born with Smith–Lemli–Opitz Syndrome (SLOS). SLOS is a life-long disorder with no current cure, limited treatment options and is often misunderstood. Many individuals with the syndrome go completely undiagnosed, whilst others suffer with various life-threatening difficulties, with often short life expectancies.
This business is our way of sharing Poppy’s story, raising awareness of SLOS, and supporting our local community.
Every soft play setup we create adds to Poppy’s legacy. When families book with us, they’re not just hiring soft play, they’re helping us share Poppy’s story, and helping raise awareness of a condition many have never heard of.
We run Poppy’s Play Patch as a not-for-profit, because this isn’t about wealth for us personally. It’s about giving back. Every penny is reinvested into new sensory equipment, upgraded play sets, and free community events that bring local families together. Your support directly helps us create magical, meaningful moments for children. The kind we treasured with Poppy.

Our Purpose
Poppy’s Play Patch exists for two simple reasons.
To bring joy to children, and to give something back to our community.
Poppy’s journey was filled with many challenges that no family ever expects to face. During our permanent residence at the hospital , we faced many dark days where the SLOS condition added further complexities. We experienced first hand how overwhelming life can become whilst trying to balance work, family, and the emotional weight of facing another day of uncertainty tomorrow.
Through Poppy’s Play Patch, we aim to turn that experience into something positive. By offering our soft play set up and sensory experience for birthdays, weddings and family events, we’re able to support children’s charities and organisations that help other families navigating difficult journeys.
Everything we do is rooted in care, kindness and community. Creating fun, inclusive play spaces for children, whilst quietly working to support those who need it most.
